Copyright Policy Overview
What is Copyright?
The term copyright means the right to copy. Copyright is used to keep work created by individuals and companies safe from duplication. It insures that the possible income and recognition from such work goes to the creator(s). Only the creator has the right to display, copy, change, and take credit for their work. They are also the only ones who can issue those rights to someone else.
How is work Copyrighted?
Since April 1, 1989 all new work is automatically copyrighted for 50 years or until the death of the creator. This is done without a formal registration or declaration, but these things will enforce the copyright. Any creator can go to the United States government page and formally register their work with a Copyright statement. Assume that everything is copyrighted and obtain permission for their use.
Why is Copyright important?
To violate copyright is discouraging new work because it takes value away from it. It is stealing. It is important for us as web designers to make sure that our sites are legal. Lots of work either printed or online will have some kind of use disclaimer or copyright policy listed. If there is question about the usability of something we need to inquire about it and receive permission or just not use it at all.
Copyright Adherence on BriAnnOngesel.me
In my own website all of my work is copyrighted. I have added a Copyright statement to the footer of my site to ensure my site visitors will be aware of that. I have also provided copyright information so that others can contact me if there are any questions or requests for material use.
